Since the end of the year right around the corner, and all the excitement of Raceday building up, we’d like to take a moment to learn about some of the positions with officers who will be rolling off the board this year. To kick things off, in place of the rolls report while the kiddos are still on spring break, let’s learn a bit more about what it takes to be the Head Reporter.
With this post, nominations for next year’s officers are also now open. The BAA operates solely on the generosity of the alumni and the few who donate their time for a couple years to keep things running. If you are interested in any of these roles, would like to challenge someone’s position, or know someone who would fit the role, nominate them via the form below!

Without further ado let’s meet:

Natalie McGuier – Head Reporter

As Rolls Report Lead my primary responsibilities are to compile, edit, or otherwise compose the weekly Rolls Report from my own observations at Rolls and those that I can solicit from local alumni. I then format the report (with images from the cmubuggy.org gallery) and post it to the BAA website. To accomplish these tasks, I send a weekly reminder/Rolls schedule email to a list of dedicated local alumni who may wish to attend Rolls on a given week. If Rolls are cancelled by Sweepstakes, I disseminate this information to the same alumni as soon as possible. I also attend Rolls as frequently as possible to be another set of eyes on the course and to contribute directly to the content of the Rolls report.
Unlike other members of the BAA Committee, the Rolls Report Lead’s obligations don’t spike as Raceday approaches. Instead, there are a steady 2-3 hours each week spent sending emails and compiling/writing the report. Of course, attending Rolls isn’t included in that time estimate. Because the Rolls Report Lead doesn’t have more work leading up to Raceday, I try to help with other planning, organizational, and editing responsibilities that fall on others in the BAA Committee as needed.
The Head Reporter is instrumental in the regular activities of the BAA, and while not required to be in the Pittsburgh area, it certainly helps. If this sounds like something you, or a friend would be interested in, nominate them now!
